Not an original thought but Suze Orman & I agree

In a previous post I mentioned that merchants should give a discount to customers who pay with cash.

Well, Suze Orman agrees.  During the March 27, 2010 episode, Suze Orman was discussing Citibank implementing a new annual fee of $60/year for its credit card but the fee would be waived if one charges, I believe, at least $2,400./year  Viewers with the Citibank credit card were asking for Suze’s advice.   Suze made her recommendations.  Then she returned to a theme she’s discussed previously —  paying with cash.

Suze noted how merchants are charged an interchange fee from the credit card companies.  The fee is about 2% .  Suze suggested merchants should reward customers who pay by cash with a 2% reduction in the cost of goods and/or services.

I have expressed the same sentiment on The Money Heifer.  It’s not an original idea.  But with Suze’s star power illuminating this idea, maybe some brave merchants will consider this.

Reward customers who pay by cash!!
