Since my Debit Card Compromised post of August 18, 2010, my blog has received three comments from individuals who discovered (or the bank discovered) unauthorized small debits or charges by  [And 50 individuals have viewed that post within the past week.]

In my case the amount of the debit was $9.88.  The thieves who are perpetrating this fraud assume the amount is too small to be noticed or will be overlooked because the amount is so small.  Hey, no amount is too small for my eagle eyes.

Beware.  Take steps to protect yourself.  Check your debit card and/or credit card accounts weekly (if not daily).  It takes less than a minute.  If you spot an unauthorized charge, let the card issuer know ASAP.

And, if anyone else has unfortunately been the victim of, please SHARE your experience with this blog.

We need to put the thieves behind OUT OF BUSINESS.

Indeed, it’s crazy. It’s happening to enough customers that banks and credit unions need to go on the offensive!

I just had $9.86 taken from them. Also I have Bank of America like johnny knoxville has, I have file a report with the FBI cyber crimes about this. Hopefully they get enough complaints that they will start to investigate. lord knows they won’t for a $9.86 complaint.

Thanks for describing what happened to you.

You would think Bank of America or other financial institutions would report this fraud, even though in small amounts, because of the number of customers whose accounts have been compromised.

I had a $9.86 charge from I have USAA and they said that they just take a loss on the fraud. They don’t even bother reporting it further. I hope the financial institutions will take more heed to get these thieves found out. I researched my purchases and determined that someone at the mall took a picture of my credit card or used a magnetic copier. Thankfully, I only had two charges using my card (no security code required) and the bank took care of it right away. Thanks for this blog. I always google companies that I don’t recognize and I made the call to my bank right away!

It just happened to me, $9.97 with 365MEGAVOLT.COM. My CC company caught it and contacted me. I have to get a new card but I wonder how 365MEGAVOLT.COM got my CC #. I am very, very, very strict with it.
